Dorothy M. Davis, of Marion County, Oregon. They married in Olympia on July 23, 1945, twelve days after The Sullivans reached San Francisco. The family's copy of the marriage certificate is among the records.

Nice weather. Like sea duty. Not anxious to get in port except to pick up mail. Hope I have lots of mail from Dorothy and the folks.

Nice weather. Fuel tanks leaking. Supposed to arrive Eniwetok tomorrow. Wrote letters to Dorothy and folks today. Miss Dorothy an awful lot.

Had a little rain today. Things are dull here in port. Wish I would meet some one from home. Received 24 letters. Feel great. Dorothy wrote plenty and so did mom

Rained today. Had more mail today. Dorothy is really super. Worked most of the day taking ammunition aboard.

Fair weather. Had practice air attacks. I would give anything to see Dorothy and the folks now. Hope it won’t be too long.

Twenty years old today. Wish I had Dorothy here to celebrate with. Seems a long time since I was home. Sure would like to see the folks and sis.

Showers today. Got stores aboard. Stood watch on the bridge of the Dixie. Dorothy says she is still waiting.

Nice weather, but rough. Fueled from Messessena (X59). Got mail, folks and Dorothy okay.

Weather got pretty rough today. Tried to fuel from tanker but we rammed it’s side so we had to retire. Transferred two corresspondents to Essex (R19). Received letter from Dort. She is pretty well disgusted with me. Took 200 bags of mail aboard.

Nice weather. Enterd Ulithi 0500 last night. Loaded ammo most of night. Wrote letters to Dort and folks.

Nice weather. Really worried about mom. Hope she is getting better. Our dinner today was pretty nice. Now is the time they are opening presents at home. I sure feel lonesome today. Received some swell pictures of Dort.

Very nice weather. Plenty of transfers in but no SM. Can’t make up my mind whether I would want a transfer or not. Recieved mail also word that mother is feeling better and that is the best news I could get. Also recieved a letter from Dorothy! Boy! What a gal. I’m one of the luckiest guys in the world to have a girl like her.

Still on radar picket 25 miles ahead of formation. Everything is quiet. Wrote letters to folks and Dorothy.
