Probably Timothy Alphonsus Clifford, signalman third class, who appears beside Conrad on every muster roll of The Sullivans from September 1944 and was advanced to second class on July 15, 1945, the day Elmer made first class. The diary gives only "Cliff", so this identification remains tentative.

Rejoined T.G. at 1630. Alabama and Monterey also joined our group. We are making strikes on Kiushi today, off the southern tip of Tokyo. Cliff says we are going back to states this time in.
